Christmas Baking
East garston Children at Gt. Shefford School - 2008
Stepping forward now to
Thursday the 18th of December but still on the subject of Christmas
and mince pies. Thirty schoolchildren
from Shefford and Chaddleworth Federated Primary School, including
East Garston pupils, learned the art of pastry making, tutored by
former Master Baker, John Brittain. Dressed in chefs hats and
white aprons, the children enjoyed what has become a regular pattern
at the school, of learning to cook. This time they were to bake mince
pies, which they would proudly take home to their families for tea. |

There was no ready made
pastry and no microwave cooking. The children showed obvious enjoyment
in learning traditional methods of baking. The John Brittain cup was
presented to the winning pair, James Cooper and Sania Kelly –
both from East Garston. |
