East Garston church bids farewell to 18 year old organist, Susan Holmes, as she goes shortly to Birmingham University to read Music. The East Garston children's choir conducted by Susan, sang "At the End of the Day", complementing the adult choir from St Michael and All Angels, Lambourn, with choirmaster Dr. Stephen Holmes at the organ. Susan accompanied by her father, Stephen sang Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Pie Jesu". Eight year old Tabitha Bond gave an impressive reading.

After the service, 63 of the congregation sat down to an excellent parish lunch at The Plough at Eastbury, when the Vicar, The Revd Tony Cumberlidge, who has been on sickness leave for 5 months, happily was able to join the group and host the occasion.

Presentations were made to Susan, and the children gave an encore of their song, especially for the Vicar.
