All Saints Church - APRIL 2012
Now we in East Garston
have a healthy respect for preserving our country traditions – our
Lammas
celebrations in July 2011 are a testament to this but a key point
is, that we need to be innovative in how we appeal to our congregations
today. This involves much work and fresh thinking. Thank you Jonathan
for bringing this thought to mind.

Not a bad ring either – likewise the quarter we rang at Lambourn the night before www.campanophile.com/view.aspx?136840 |

Further to the above, the week's ringing culminated in a "Branch Dinner" for all the participating ringers from within the Newbury Branch. This year I was pleased to be asked to organize the venue and the dinner itself. The "Fisher Room" which is attached to St Mark's Church, at Coldash, proved a worthy location, and we enjoyed a lovely meal provided by a team of local caterers. Our grateful thanks to Carol and her helpers for a job well done..

All Saints Church - FEBRUARY 2012
Despite the weather we had a full church with an enthusiastic congregation, who after the service enjoyed mulled wine and hot mince pies – thanks to Mrs Widge Lamplough. Thank you also to all who came and those that helped to make this service such an enjoyable start to our Christmas festivities.
On Christmas morning, with the Archdeacon of Berkshire’s blessing we held a Christmas Family Worship service. People responded magnificently to the letter which we sent to every household in the parish explaining that though we were unable to have a Holy Communion Service, there would be an emphasis on all children in the parish participating in the family service. We had 120 people in church with 40 of these being children and young persons (some from Norway, USA and Belgium! ), who needed no persuasion when their turn came to take part.
