Garston Gallopers extend their art form to include appearances at weddings - 2011
Alex and Tania's Wedding at Combe
It was never an
option for Alex and Tania not to have Morris dancing at their wedding
on 3rd September, but as the day drew closer, as mother of the groom,
I began to wonder if they really wanted it! I was relieved when
they asked for us to dance twice instead of the once I had planned. |

The
Gallopers turned out in force for the occasion and it was just what
was needed to entertain guests on the grass outside the barns after
the wedding buffet. Possibly due to the affects of wine, there was
no shortage of participation, including the bride and groom, when
we invited them to join in for ‘Quest’. We finished with ‘Wedding
Ring’ danced around the happy couple. |
Combe Manor was a beautiful
setting for the wedding and ideal for Morris dancing too |

Bob and Tracey's Wedding at Eastbury
Bob and Tracy
from Eastbury had seen us dancing at The Plough earlier in the year
and asked if we could dance after their Wedding Blessing at St James
the Greater Church in Eastbury on Saturday 27th August. It was a
showery day and we huddled under a tree waiting for the couple to
emerge from the church. |
Fortunately,
just as they did the rain stopped and the sun shone. As the wedding
guests enjoyed canapés we danced on the bank of the river Lambourn
opposite the Plough. It was a lovely occasion and special for us
because Sheri was able to dance with us for the first time since
her surgery. We finished with ‘Wedding Ring’, showering the happy
couple with rose petals. |
Lynn
wanted to show us the floral decorations around the church door,
which were in our colour of purple! |
