The Swan Inn
Garston Gallopers at The Swan Inn Great Shefford 2013
Easter Monday, 1st April 2013
Our
first dance-out of the season was on April Fool’s Day – quite appropriate
as it turned out as the weather played nasty tricks on us! A cold
wind blew across the car park at The Swan, and later turned to snow.
Not quite what we expected when we planned this Easter outing. |
Nevertheless
we had a great time, especially since we were joined by our new
friends Great Bustard Morris from Wiltshire. They are a side who
have been dancing together for about four years, just as we have.
They take their name from the bird featured on the flag for the
county of Wiltshire. You can find more information about them at |
We
had an excellent turnout of dancers and musicians which meant we
were able to include our newest dance Nine Men’s/Maids’ Morris which
went quite well. We danced two sets, alternating between the two
sides, with a short break between for the musicians to thaw out
their fingers! We finished with a mass performance of Shepherds
Away, with Great Bustard following our lead. |
We
were glad to retire indoors afterwards for a good lunch. We look
forward to heading west to Wiltshire later in the season to meet up again with Great Bustard Morris |
