A
night at the races, organised by Martin Digweed and sponsored
by no less than eleven different businesses, was the latest
in a very successful run of Village Hall & Social club hosted
events.
The
betting took the form of a Tote. With a percentage taken for
the Village Hall and Social Club Refurbishment Funds. All
stakes were to £1 units and you could buy Jockeys for
each race. Jockeys were purchased on the night for £2.50
each. Each jockey at the end of the night was asked to pick
an envelope which contained a prize
All
races had 8 runners and horses were sold to owners at £2
Each - if their horse won, the Owners recieved £10 in
addition to any winning bets they may have placed.

The
pictures say all there is to say about this well organised event so
the final words from Martin Digweed.
My grateful thanks to the helpers on the evening. Working
on the Tote were Jo Darby, Richard Lewis and Lyndsey Payne.
We raised £502 for the Refurbishment
fund and are thinking of running another race night later on
in the year.
Thank you to all who came and supported us and to all our sponsors
for there generous contributions to the evening.
