Village Fete

The
perennial "Dog Show" drew a very large audience. This year
the man with the unenviable job of deciding the catagory winners was
East Garston Racehorse Trainer ~ Pat Murphy. Well done Pat. |
Several
weeks previously, a questionnaire had been sent out to every household
regarding the village Parish
Plan The collated results were on public display. This was the
result of a 70% return of papers, so in consequence represented the
vast majority of parishioners |
Some
rather chaotic children's races ensued ~ with all the runners thoroughly
enjoying the moment. It must be said that all our village youngsters appear to be fiercely competitive as they push every ounce of effort into winning. |
Wellie-Wanging
and Water Cricket |
With the Tug-O-War now complete just one more item remained ~ The raffle prize draw. |
More
than £3,000 was raised in support of community groups. In addition
there was the social club bar and beer tent profits which go directly
to the village hall and social club. The Shop reports three times
normal Sunday sales, once again money back into the community. The
committee would like to thank everyone for their support, in particular
our donors and sponsors and those that contributed cakes and produce
to the food tent. The committee also estimates that attendance was
50% up on last year, bolstered by the good weather and the attractions.
Outsiders have complimented the village on our "community spirit". |
