Diamond Jubilee
Village Celebrations over the weekend in June 2012
ALL SAINTS' CHURCH
Coordinated to be part of a whole village programme, the Jubilee celebrations at All Saints Church, were different in so much as they provided an opportunity for giving thanks for the Queen’s Life of Dedication and Duty, by being reflective in mood as well as informative. |
On
the approach to the church, a Chelsea Flower Show style Jubilee
garden had been specially constructed - with a fountain flowing
into a well, a herb garden and a screened vegetable plot. This was
a very ambitious project indeed, but it worked beautifully. |
Inside the
church, the window sills were adorned with floral displays, predominantly
white to signify the Diamond element of the weekend celebrations.
A photographic exhibition and commercially produced publications,
gave us all an insight into the Queen's 60 year reign. |
The Church exhibition was open on Saturday from 2-30pm to 5pm, with afternoon tea served in the Churchyard |
On
Sunday morning at 9.00am a 30 minute Community Service was held
in church, offering prayers of thanksgiving for the Queen and her
family along with appropriate hymns. The String Ensemble from Patricia
Glover’s Active Music Club played for us once again. Coffee
was served following the end of the service itself. |
After the service
on Sunday, there were further opportunities to take in the
exhibition, and to enjoy the Jubilee Garden, |
As
a finale on Tuesday evening, wine and canapés were the order of
the day with one final chance to enjoy the garden |
