The Village Fete
Page two 2011
Music
this year came courtesy of the "Notting Hill Steel Band"
who performed at the house for their 1pm session - and later at
3pm, moved to the main arena. I must admit, I do like the cheery
summer sounds that radiate from steel bands. Thank you guys - loved
it. |
FALCONRY
Causing
a great deal of interest were these beautifully turned out birds
of prey. To my knowledge, Falconry hasn't appeared at previous East
Garston fetes, although I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will correct
me. The chance to get up close and personal with these magnificent
creatures, was siezed upon willingly by folks of all ages. |
Continuing on
with the animal/bird theme, we were introduced to "Barny"
and "Big Boy" - two friendly and very alert Alpacas. They live here at Parsonage Farm, and are, we are told, Excellent field guards. |
HELICOPTER
Parked on
the lawn for all to peruse over was a Hughes 500 helicopter from
nearby Manor Farm. Apparently it caused a bit of a stir when it
landed as the down draft from the rotors dispatched paperwork in
several directions. |
The
chopper, piloted by James Lovett, finished its visit with a
short flying display that demonstrated just how fast and manouverable
this little machine really is. One of the raffle prizes was for
a flight in same, ultimately won by Emma Pryer, who had previously
said that the raffle prize she wanted most was the flight - and
she got it! To say Emma was delighted is an understatement. |
The
Dog show was judged this year by - "Charlie James" |
